Application of Ceramic Fibers in Ceramic Kilns

Table of Contents

In terms of furnace lining structures, it is best to use ceramic fiber blankets or modules, or a composite structure lining composed of both ceramic fiber blankets and modules.

This article will introduce the application of ceramic fibers in ceramic kilns, hoping to assist you in selecting the suitable ceramic fiber products.

Filling and Sealing Materials

Ceramic fiber loose cotton can be used for filling or sealing expansion joints in kilns, gaps in metal components, holes at the rotating ends of roller kilns, seams in suspended kilns, and joints in kiln cars.

Lining Materials

Selecting suitable ceramic fibers as lining materials according to different temperature requirements offers several advantages: reducing kiln wall thickness, decreasing weight, accelerating the heating rate of kilns, especially intermittent kilns, saving kiln construction materials, reducing costs, saving firing time, quick production commencement, and extending the lifespan of outer brick linings.

Exterior Thermal Insulation Materials

Ceramic kilns often use ceramic loose cotton or ceramic fiber boards as thermal insulation materials. These materials can reduce kiln wall thickness, lower the surface temperature of the kiln wall, provide elasticity and fillability to relieve brick wall expansion thermal stress, enhance kiln airtightness, and the low thermal capacity of the fibers is beneficial for rapid firing.

Used in Full Fiber Kilns

In these kilns, both the kiln wall and lining utilize ceramic fibers. The heat storage capacity of fiber linings is only 1/10 to 1/30 that of brick linings, and the weight is only 1/10 to 1/20. This setup can reduce kiln weight, decrease structural costs, and expedite firing.
