Application and Advantages of Ceramic Fibers in Kiln Cars
Table of Contents
Insulation in kiln cars is an integral part of kiln insulation. The insulation and sealing between kiln cars are crucial factors affecting ceramic kiln firing quality, operational reliability, and economic benefits. In this article, Anchor-Tech will discuss the application and advantages of ceramic fiber products in ceramic kiln cars.
I. Overview of Kiln Cars
Kiln cars refer to the transportation equipment in ceramic kilns, designed to withstand the weight of items on the car (including refractory bricks and stacks of materials) and the force from the car pusher. Kiln cars mainly consist of frames, wheel sets, and side skirts. These cars operate at high temperatures and endure repeated temperature fluctuations, requiring sufficient strength and heat resistance.
II. Application of Ceramic Fibers in Kiln Cars
Application on Kiln Car Surfaces Ceramic fiber blankets are commonly laid on the surfaces of kiln cars along with refractory bricks. The refractory bricks on kiln car surfaces tend to expand outward during use, with a 15mm gap between bricks. Ceramic fiber bulk is filled in between these brick joints while keeping the ceramic fiber bulk loose and not filled with refractory mortar.
Application on Other Parts of Kiln Cars At joints and perimeters of kiln cars, 30mm thick ceramic fiber blankets can be affixed to prevent elevated kiln gas temperatures, reduce cold air infiltration, enhance kiln sealing, narrow the temperature differential between the top and bottom of the kiln, reduce heat loss, and shorten the high-temperature insulation duration, thus reducing fuel consumption.
III. Advantages of Using Ceramic Fibers in Kiln Cars
Lightweight Structure :Ceramic fibers are lightweight with low bulk density. The bulk density of ceramic fiber bulk is 50-100Kg/m², while ceramic fiber blankets have a density of 96/128Kg/m³. They are significantly lighter compared to traditional refractory bricks used in kiln cars, reducing the weight and extending the lifespan of the kiln cars.
Excellent Insulation, Energy Efficiency, and Environmental Protection :Anchor-Tech ceramic fiber bulk products have a low thermal conductivity, providing excellent insulation. Their thermal conductivity is only about 1/8th that of refractory bricks, reducing heat accumulation in the kiln cars, minimizing heat loss, enhancing thermal efficiency, and promoting environmental protection and energy savings.
Superior Thermal Shock Resistance and Long Lifespan: Ceramic fiber blankets exhibit excellent resistance to thermal shocks, preventing cracking or damage in rapid heating and cooling environments, ensuring a longer lifespan.
Excellent Chemical Stability: Ceramic fiber products, being inorganic non-metallic materials, possess stable chemical structures. They do not react with general substances or corrode the kiln car body.
